This past weekend was Apple Day at Borough Market. On top of amazing apple-y things (Waldorf salad! Apple muffins! A billion types of hard/mulled/whatever cider!), there was a troupe of Shakespearean actors that performed stuff in crazy costumes (on top of deciduous Carmen Miranda on the left, I also enjoyed the dude in a bear costume playing a violin). The highlight of the day (aside from the apple muffins) was the fact that the Shakespearean troupe had created an enormous cornucopiaic woman made of harvest vegetables, which they proceeded to throw into the audience in what I’m sure was some English tradition representing plenty. All I know is that my friends and I got some nice sheaves of wheat, which were excellent for keeping people at a distance on the Tube.
